Save our Earley Pubs Campaign

We have noticed some pubs in Earley struggle to keep going and wondered what the blazes is going on, we have spoken to The Reading Chronicle, the Evening Post, the Wokingham Times as well as Wokingham District council Planning and Licensing Department. Recently We found that The Three Tunns was closed because we were told they were changing hands, and I guess that they are simply just changing Land Lords. The bar maid simply said that the old Land Lady was leaving and the new people had not arrived yet!

Off course you are probably aware that the Maiden Over in Earley has Closed, and the Land Lord and Lady have moved abroad. We saw sign on the door, that is the door of the Three Tonns: saying Closed All Day. We saw another sign on the Maiden Over Saying Closed For An Annual Clean Up, or something like that! .Basically Pubs are having a hard time for a variety or reasons, Not that I smoke, but the smoking Ban in public places has meant that a lot fewer people go into pubs..Talking to the Land Lord of the College Arms Pub, which is right by a 17 Bus Stop on the Wokingham Road Near to Palmer Park, College Arms 128 Wokingham Road RG6 1JL he said that the Robuck Pub is also closed, Is there a connection here we wondered, we simply do not know. We are keen to support or pubs in Earley since we do live here after all and we live in a Community! We asked the Wokingham District Council is there any planning application in for the Maiden Over Pub in Silvlerdale Road, they said ther is'nt. So it looks like it going to remain as a pub but it is closed, you can not get a drink or any food or a Wi_Fi Signal, well not one from the Pub at any rate.

What can we do well you can E mail the Reading Chronicle, or the Evening Post or the Wokingham News and just ask them do they want to support The Pubs in Earley more in some way to make them more Sucessfull and Prosperous? The Pubs need You and You Need the Pubs!!? Mention that you are astonded that the pub trade in Earley seems to be struggling, ask which pubs have Wi-Fi Which have a nice pint of Real Ale and which have a good old Pub Quiz. The College Arms on The Wokingham Road has Bitter and Larger, but we susspect the Land Lord wants to introduce a Guest Real Ale at some point, but obviously in line with being tied to a Brewery. That's how it is in the pub trade is'nt it. if you are tied to a Brewrey you largely sell what they tell you you can sell.. You will find the Pub: Roebuck at 37 Auckland Road, Earley, Reading, Berkshire, RG6 1NY 0118 926 2226, thats also in Earley not too far from the College Arms on the Wokingham Road, but will you find it open or maybe this pub is being refurbished or the Ownership is changing!?? we rang them up...... the phone just rang and rang and rang.... then it simply rang some more...
