you know the average home user who brought a Laptop from Staples in the Forbury Rd Reading, RG1 3JD 0118 958 1189 Or someone who has brought a Lap top from Curries, PC World, Maplins, Novatech, has not herd of Ubuntu, but a recient customer of our was using it in Burnham Nr. Slough, on an Acer Lap Top we fixed for them!
There are quite a few, but they are simple enough. Firstly think do you want to run Ubuntu as a server or as a regular computer system on a pc or Laptop. ( We decided to push out computer hard ware to the brink of its capability as we wrote this web page!) So right now as Dreamweaver works the microsoft defrag program is running, but not like it need to but just 'cos we decided why not lets see if the disk drive and microsoft's program can hack it!! Its ok, things have slowed down a bit but every thing is working fine.... (We even carried on putting the file to the local apache server and to our web server on the other side of the globe, and it still worked!)
Ask your self how is your hard drive organized, oh Blast we got a message on the screen whilst writing this : while executing receive arguments in Site_File.htm the following error occurred At line 39 of file D:|Program Files |Macromedia|Dream weaver MX 2004\Configuration\Menus\MM\Site File.js exception throw in native function. then an other message came up that the file we were working on has moved out side Dream Weaver, then our anti virus program started scanning the disk automatically, we thought this is corting computing disaster... ( Do not try this at home or even in a freinds home!?) Ok we stopped the antivirus scan, waited till the defrag had finished then saved this file and put it to the local and then remote server, alright Phewww, everything is ok...
No ... look when you install Ubuntu knowen as the Fiesty Faun, the installation routines will ask you do you want to partition the whole disk or part of the disk... You probably want ot keep you installation of windows so you choose the option that effectively creates a new partiotion to put Ubuntu into. You may ask... where does it get the space from on the disk and of course ethe answer is that it takes it from your partition that windows is in. this is fine provided that that partition was not small before and was not nearly full up with data.
